Dresser Makeover: Antique White with Brown Top

Here is the dresser in process and almost done ! I have to paint the sides the antique white along with the bottom drawer. One of the knobs broke when I went to take them off. What to do? They were the only 6 left at Anthropologie. I got to go do a little shopping and searching for similar one! Here is the dresser before I did some work on it today !

The dresser was the tan color all over.
I decided to take "before" photos
after I started painting.
the bang up top is what inspired me to attempt my first refinishing project

Spiced Wine from Valspar
this reddish brown should match the stain
of the round accent table pretty well.

(bad image)  the knobs I found on sale at Anthropologie.
I just couldn't get myself to buy 6 $8 knobs !

after three coats of white, some sanding,
two quotes of Antique White.

My parents were getting annoyed with all the sanding and painting, but I wasn't happy or satisfied with a bright white dresser once I saw it. My mom found two gallons of Antique White on our paint shelves. I, also, used one gallon for my walls (since I won't be living here permantly and we just needed to refresh the walls). I figured I would go with a brown top to break up and seperate the dresser from the wall. Well, I got to go finish this dresser so we can bring it up to my room tonight ! :)

Early Summer Projects

It has been awhile - 6 months ! My life got chaotic and is now quieting down a bit. I have been working on a couple projects since the spring (May). I have made Little Lady a couple twirl skirts for the summer, and a pretty, puffy dress also. She has a thing for dresses, which made its apparence when the weather started to get warm. Here is a little conversation between my mother, myself, and Layna's two cents:

Me: "she has a thing for dresses. she loves them"
My Mom: "I don't know where you (Layna) got it from"
Layna: "my closet."

She is right, but neither my mother nor myself wear dresses on a regular day basis. As girly as she is in her dresses, she LOVES playing in the dirt ! Anyways, so I have been making her a couple dresses and skirts along with her little best friend Miss Aislyn. Even though they are the same age, Layna is into 3T and Aislyn is around 18months-24months, I believe. So... instead of getting rid of Layna's pillowcase dresses and tops I had made her last year, I gave them to Aislyn. Her mother appreciates handmade/sewn projects and clothing. I made Aislyn and Layna matching twirl skirts. They are so simple and quick to make !

Now, I have a couple projects going. I refinished a dresser. I sanded, and painted it white and didn't like it. And my mother found an antique white paint on our shelf of paint cans. I painted the drawers the antique white. I am debating if I should do the whole dresser dark brown or just the top. My parents have had it and are annoyed. How many times can you paint a dresser ?! I need to like it because I never have anything I really like. So I will be working on finishing the dresser along with finish tiling my brothers bedroom. (He just moved out and I'm moving into his room). I painted the walls today; nothing fancy just that antique white paint - we had two full gallons of it!

My projects include:
finishing the dresser
tiling the floor
decorating my new room
a quick refinishing to a bookcase for Little Lady's bedroom
a quick refinishing job of a round side accent table for my room
I am in the middle of making a bag for my laptop too

busy girl I am !

I will try to post some photos of the dresser and Layna's dress soon !
